At 2 o'clock on the morning of August 1, 1927, the former enemy committee headed by Zhou Enlai and the 20,000 people of the Northern Expeditionary Force led by He Long, Ye Ting, Zhu De and Liu Bocheng. The armed uprising was held in Nanchang, Jiangxi, and the first shot of the Chinese Communist Party’s armed opposition to the Kuomintang reactionaries was launched. It was the beginning of the armed struggle of the Chinese Communist Party’s independent leadership.
 
 
In April 1928, the Nanchang Uprising Army led by Zhu De and Chen Yi and the autumn harvest uprising unit led by Mao Zedong met in Jinggangshan and officially formed the Fourth Army of the Chinese Workers and Peasants Revolutionary Army. On June 30, 1933, the Central Revolutionary Military Committee decided that August 1st of each year will be the Red Army Memorial Day for Chinese Workers and Peasants. On July 11, the same year, the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic approved the decision. Since then, "August 1" has become the Army Day of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
 
 
On July 11, 1933, the Provisional Central Government of the Chinese Soviet Republic decided to use August 1 as the anniversary of the establishment of the Red Army of Chinese Workers and Peasants. Since then, every August 1st has become the Chinese Workers and Peasants Red Army and later the People's Liberation Army's Army Day.
